About Lonier

Born in Havana, Cuba and trained in the fine arts, Lonier approaches tattooing as an extension of his practice as a visual artist.

He graduated from the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes San Alejandro (San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts), the oldest art academy in the Americas. His formal training in drawing, painting, composition, and traditional techniques became the foundation for his work as a tattoo artist, where he began translating the language of painting onto the human body.

In 2022, Lonier moved to the United States with his wife, beginning a new chapter of his artistic career in Mississippi. There, he became part of Jackson’s tattoo community and worked at Electric Dagger, one of the city’s oldest and most respected tattoo shops until August 2024.

After relocating to Colorado, Lonier established himself in Boulder, where he has continued working as a tattoo artist while developing his broader practice as a multidisciplinary visual artist.

His tattoo work moves between abstract and illustrative approaches, grayscale and color, and American Traditional, while always maintaining the influence of his fine-art background.

Outside of tattooing, Lonier continues to develop his artistic practice through painting, drawing, and printmaking. He recently received recognition through an award and selection for a permanent art exhibition, further expanding his work beyond tattooing and into the broader contemporary art world.

For Lonier, tattooing, murals, painting, printmaking, and sculpture are not separate disciplines—they are different surfaces, materials, and ways of exploring the same artistic language.
