The Atomic Pixies
The Atomic Pixies are a trio of artists from Colorado just trying to make the world a more beautiful place. Our artwork is collaborative, and created by the three of us together. Our Art Nerdveau-inspired enamel pins, comics, art prints and accessories are inspired by the everyday magic and beauty of the world around us.
The Atomic Pixies origin story:
The three of us began working together when we were a part a different art group called Studio Fae X, a little over a decade ago. Back when we were all just a bunch of nerds making art together in our parents basements. Over the years, some members came and somewhere in early 2014 we came to the conclusion that our entire style and vibe in general was different than what Studio Fae X had been. It was around the time that we started to experiment with our art style that we now call Art Nerdveau, as well as the time that we started creating our tarot deck, which is aptly named the Atomic Tarot. The “rebranding” was our way of making a fresh, strong start.
As for how we came up with the name, we had a whole afternoon brainstorming session where we wrote down a bunch of key words that would be reflective of us and the art we wanted to create. The Atomic is for many things; for our energy and for our fascination with science. For example, I have honestly taken college astronomy classes for fun. The Pixies part is for us, I suppose. We wanted something fun, magical an maybe a little mischievous. Plus we wanted a title we could give people that would get an “of course that’s your name” kind of reaction. We honestly don’t remember any of the other options we discussed, Atomic Pixies was the obvious choice.
